WPC Door Sample Approval Before a Bulk Order

A sample is useful only when its approved construction and finish can be traced to the door marks, drawing revision and purchase order.

Approve a complete WPC door set for a named opening type, then record exactly what the production order must repeat. Review the leaf, edges, matching frame and trim, finish, hardware preparation, packing and signed drawing together. A loose face sample or attractive image does not approve an installed door set.

Start with one repeatable opening, not an unlabelled sample

For an apartment, hotel or distributor order, choose a representative opening from the current door schedule. Give it a door mark, room use, quantity, finished leaf dimensions, wall depth, handing and finish reference. If a bathroom, utility room or another opening has different exposure or hardware, treat it as a separate type instead of silently extending the first approval to every door.

Buyers comparing options can start with the VISFURN WPC door collection. The catalogue shows design routes; it does not establish that every finish, frame profile or construction in an illustration is available for a particular order. Ask which sample and drawing represent the quoted configuration.

What the approval record must identify

Record the accepted sample and the remaining decisions
Part of the setBuyer checkEvidence to retain
Leaf and edgeConfirm the proposed leaf construction, thickness, face and edge finish; inspect both faces and all exposed edges.Identified physical sample and approved product drawing.
Frame and trimReview the actual profile, jamb depth, joint, reveal and architrave against the finished wall.Section drawing and site wall build-up.
FinishCompare colour, grain direction, sheen and leaf-to-frame match under the project's expected light.Dated, labelled control sample and agreed acceptance reference.
Hardware preparationIdentify hinges, lock or privacy function, handing, machining and what is supplied versus site fitted.Hardware schedule and selected model template.
PackingConfirm leaf/frame assembly format, corner protection, accessory kits and package labels.Packing drawing or sample package and door-mark scheme.

Do not infer water resistance, fire rating, acoustic performance, certification or outdoor suitability from the material name. Any required performance must be tied to the actual proposed assembly and appropriate documentation.

Check the installed relationship, not just the face

Place the proposed leaf, frame and trim together at a typical opening or mock-up where the project requires one. Confirm the wall depth and finished-floor reference, then verify bottom gap and threshold decisions separately. A frame that looks correct in isolation may produce the wrong wall reveal, and a handle shown in a rendering may not be part of the supplied hardware.

For bathrooms and utility rooms, record actual moisture and cleaning exposure as a project requirement. The proposed leaf, bottom edge, frame, trim and hardware should be reviewed as one system. Read the WPC bathroom hardware and threshold guide for those opening-specific checks. Do not extend a bathroom selection to a directly rain-exposed exterior opening without a separate product review.

Release the batch against a controlled reference

Assign the physical sample an ID. Store photographs as supporting records, but keep the sample itself and the signed drawing as the controlling reference. Record the approved finish, edge, frame section, selected hardware model, package contents, door marks and drawing revision in the purchase order or its attachments. Mark each unresolved item as pending. Only the buyer's agreed approval process can close those items.

If a supplier proposes a changed profile, finish, hinge or lock after approval, ask for a revised comparison and written sign-off before the affected doors are produced. The number of pieces to inspect during production, the acceptable variation and any remedy should be agreed in the project specification rather than invented from a generic checklist. The broader door sample approval guide explains the general release process; this page focuses on the WPC set and finish relationship.

What to send for a WPC bulk-order review

  1. Project type, destination country, approximate quantity and target project dates.
  2. Door schedule or list of repeatable room types, door marks and dimensions.
  3. Wall depth, finished-floor and threshold notes for each different opening.
  4. Preferred WPC design and finish references, including any physical sample already approved.
  5. Hardware models or functions, handing, frame and trim supply scope.
  6. Required documents, packing sequence and whether a mock-up or batch sample is needed.

Send what is available and mark the rest pending. VISFURN can review the proposed configuration and confirm which actual samples or documents are available before a production commitment.

Buyer questions

Is a small WPC face swatch enough to approve the order?

No. It helps with colour and surface review, but it does not confirm the finished leaf edge, matching frame, wall fit, hardware machining or packing.

Can one sample cover every room type?

Only when the approved construction, finish, dimensions, wall and hardware scope really are the same. Keep exceptions under separate door marks and approval records.

Does a generated catalogue image prove the production finish?

No. Request an identified physical sample and the agreed written finish reference for the proposed order.

Source and application note

Reviewed 21 October 2026. Woodwork Institute publications and WDMA architectural door standards illustrate why finish, drawings and specification control matter for architectural doors. They are background procurement references, not a WPC product standard or VISFURN certification. Final approval must use the proposed product's own evidence.
